Ussuriysk in emergency over foot-and-mouth disease outbreak
VLADIVOSTOK, Jan 30 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Far Eastern city of Ussuriysk has introduced emergency over an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, the city administration said in a statement on Wednesday.
On January 11, an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease hit a farm of Russian agricultural holding RusAgro in the Far East. Rusagro said that 481 animals were culled, and quarantine was imposed.
On January 18, the disease was contracted by animals on a farm of Mersi-Agro, where about 7,000 cattle died, and on a farm belonging to Primorsky Bekon, where 1,000 pigs died and 50,000 are to be culled.
